What works for cleaning anodized trim? I have what appears to be years old insect residue in the area of the grill. A mild detergent and water cleaned it up a little but the stain remains. I want to clean it off without damaging the anodized coating.

Anodizing isn't really a coating. It's a process that effects the surface pores of the aluminum either making them shiny or in some cases colored. It wouldn't surprise me if the anodize is gone by now especially if you have stains. You can lighty wet sand, but odds are you will get below the depth of the anodized surface. Did you try some good aluminum polish?

I was afraid that a polish would take the anodizing off. Since it’s under the hood and only visible when the hood is open it’s probably worth a try .
