I have heard that this is the best way to adjust your valves. How do you keep the screwdriver in the slot with the valve going up and down?

As J Franklin suggests practice and more practice, I adjust valve clearances that way most times. Tony

There is a tool for this. Go to eBay and search "valve adjusting tool". The Snap-on allows the use of a socket for the nut while the captured screw driver handles the set screw. The Zim is self contained and is made to accommodate two different nut sizes. I have a hand full of them.

I have only used an ordinary flat blade screwdriver and appropriate sized ring spanner, though the earlier Subaru engines did require a special tool. Tony
