I recently purchased a 36 2 dr sedan with trunk that I was told was a Master Delux. I'm not so sure, so I would like to find out exactly what I have. Serial #9FA129000 Engine #5853355 Casting # 886010-4 Casting date L-12-5 (Nov 12, 1935 if Chevy did not us letter I, or Dec. if they did?) Style #36-1011 Body #2574 Trim #53 Paint #196 (black?) I know I have seen this info somewhere, but I can't remember where. Thanks

An FA is a Master Deluxe. It should have 6 lug wheels. A Standard has 5 lug an a straight front axle with leaf springs, The engine number is a 1936.

The 9 that preceeds the FA in your I.D. number means your car was built in Norwood Ohio 1011 is a Master Series Town Sedan, and yes, it was originally black.

If taken care of the 36 is probably the most long lived of the early sixes. It is the first year of the full water jackets for Chevrolet engines. First year of hydraulic brakes for Chevrolet. I think it is the first year the rear brake drums can be removed without having to remove the hub, or the axle with it. Many other things were improved in '36 so as to make way for the next big transition of recasting, and revamping everything to introduce the new and improved '37 model.
