I'm replacing the back 3 windows in my 36 coupe, then my windshield next. What is the best product or compound to seal in the new glass. I'm using steele rubber so I want to make sure I do this right the first time.

Steele rubber recommends that CRL windshield and body compound, which never fully cures, it stays tacky. It's a butyl compound

I've used the tried and true 3m stuff, more expensive but I know it works. This stuff of course cures and does harden to some degree.

What should I use? Thank you

3M makes a product for that use. It is what I used years back with good results.

I don't think Steele would have switched to CRL from 3M if it wasn't as good or better. Just my thought.

It's a butyl compound instead of eurothane so it stays soft.

I'm in Arizona where it does get to 117 degrees. I've read that the crl stuff will seep out and get on the car.... not really what I want. So idk. I don't think GM ever used this stuff originally

I believe 3M 08509 is the old school non hardening type. Auto Body Tool Mart still lists it . Mike

I put windows in with windshield urethane. Never an issue ever.

I do not remember the part number but I used a 3M product when I put the glass in car. Normally if I am installing something like glass I just use whatever is recommended by the manufacturer. Especially if a warranty is involved.
