Hi everybody
I've searched for the answer to this and there seems to be NOTHING in the '42 to '46 shop manual.
In searching here, the suggestion is usually to "just PRY it off", and that there is a rubber ring inside that sits in a groove and retains the button.
BUT...
Pictures I've seen of original and replacement parts for '41 to '46 trucks suggests that the button has a THREADED stud that SCREWS into a plate behind the button that is held on to 3 prongs by a retaining ring.
Does anyone know for sure how to get this thing off?
I don't want to break something that isn't broke already.
If this thing does screw off... how the heck do I get hold of the button to turn it off when it sits flush with the steering wheel?
Reason for asking...
The horn works, but not consistently. Sometimes I have to work the button around a bit to get it to ground.
Thanks for any information or experience you may have.
