VCCA Home Forums TECHNICAL - 1945 AND EARLIER 1912-1928 Anyone know what this generator is from?

I have 2 of these units, Remy generator 940L, 284L coil. This system uses the same cap, points and rotor as our four cyl cars. The cast iron distributor is identical to the 366p in every way except the gear, which is an easy swap.

It would be nice to know the application as it is an easy replacement for the 366p.

When I did some research, I found that the 366r distributor was used on the 940L generator, this distributor has no markings at all.

The 2nd one in the pic is a modified 366r with 366p gear and label.

Not sure if this will help. It is not a Chevrolet generator. Also it has a Delco-Remy tag on it. Delco and Remy combined in May 1926 so it is a 1927 model or newer. Not too many cars were 4 cylinders after 1928. It might fit a farm tractor or something along that line.
