Can any of you folks provide pictures of the factory-correct pipes and connections for the combination fuel and vacuum pump as installed in a '54 passenger car? I originally thought pictures or line drawings might appear in the accessory installation manual but, apparently, this is not on the list of items covered in that book. After wasting most of yesterday afternoon wandering around the internet, I did find pictures of one very neatly done set-up on a '50 pickup by guy named Denny Graham: https://pbase.com/dennygraham/5591547_fuelvacuum_pump&page=all On the website I came across this photo link, the OP poster of these pictures did point out that his arrangement is "his arrangement," and not an attempt to copy any Chevy-designed arrangement.

Anyway, if anyone can shed any light on the connections/pipes as The General intended, I would appreciate the information.

National Chevy reprints this occasionally in their newsletter. I just checked the archived newsletters on their site, and there is one up:

Fairly certain that I have a picture from an old GM document; I'll look around later this afternoon and post if I can find it.

drtyler,

Thank you very much; that helps a LOT! If you happen to come across that picture from the old GM document, that would be great as well.

You should be able to capture that picture and print it out for future reference if that's what you're needing. Just click the thumbnail then do a screenshot.

I think your intent is that you are looking for an image of the original GM document. If so, I suggest that you need to start you search with the GM heritage Center as well as the VCCA library at the AACA headquarters and museum in Hershey, PA. Access to the library at AACA is available to VCCA members.

Rusty,

That's good to know about the VCCA and AACA libraries. The GM Heritage Center is a good idea as well. Maybe they'll have what I'm looking for, but the AACA library website seems to indicate that a research librarian needs to do the "detective work." Not surprising; most such libraries aren't about to let any schmoe who walks in the door simply rifle through a collection of now-rare documents!
