I have a '69 C20 with a 350 and a GM Muncie SM465 trans. I hate the granny gears, almost 4K RPM at 70 mph! Is there a similar 4 speed Muncie or other brand that I can swap into my truck with higher gears?

if your sbc is turning 4k at 70 mph, suggest you change the rear differential ratio. swapping any manual trans with 1:1 in high gear isn't gonna improve the 4k at 70 mph. mike

I agree with Mike. Unless you install a transmission with "overdrive" higher gears you will not see any difference in engine speed. Or change the rear axle ratio.

The fastest gears made for your rear axle are 4.11. these were used in trucks with automatic transmissions. They are difficult to find because the complete carrier assembly will plug into any Chevy 3/4 or 1 ton rear axle back to about 1946, so they are in high demand. There are some overdrive transmissions that can be installed in your truck, with mild{ish} modifications. Someone here might have made this conversion and chime ih to help. You can also go over to Stovebolt.com and get some advice. Good luck.

A NV4500 trans would be the best way to go.
