I need to buy a new rebuilt water pump. I see there are two sizes, a short and a long. I think I have a long pump as it measure 2 1/2” I am looking for confirmation that a 39 master deluxe did use a long pump vs someone just putting it on in the past. In addition does anyone have a contact for rebuilding the pump

There was only one water pump used in 1939 and it was the same pump for 1940.

1937 and 1938 pumps were a diffeent lngth.

The parts book does not specify size because there is only one size for 1939 and 1940.
IT DOES SAY THE NUMBER 838905 IS STAMPED INTO THE PULLEY.

It does show 1937 and 1938 pulley sizes but they do not pertain to 1939.

If you look in the Master Parts list you will see a comparison of the 3 pumps for '37, '38' and '39. As Gene noted, the '39 pump was the service part for '37 & '38.

The 1939 pump body was used for the late new and improved 1937 and 1938 models but not the pulley and impeller shaft.

. I recall reading the monthly updates (Wrong name) that the first two bushing pumps were being replaced with the permanently sealed bearing style pump. This is confirmed by the foot notes at bottom of this page. .
. There is a slight difference in length which is also on this page. I know that the fan is quite close to the radiator and one has to be careful when installing the radiator shell so the fan doesn't eat the radiator. . .
