Is the 37 rear gravel shield that mounts in front of the rear bumper supposed to be body color or black.

Any chance of some photos for us with 37s whose vehicles are missing a rear gravel shield?
Thanks

This is pre-restoration. 37-38 gravel shields were the same. I&I Reproductions used to sell repop shields. Don't know if they still do or not.

I cannot help answer the color question because my '37 was black body color also.

The '37 & '38 gravel sheilds for the coupe might have been the same. That does not necessarily mean that the gravel shields for the sedans will fit. If I remember correctly the bumpers and bumper brackets for sedans and coupes are different

They attach at the bracket to bumper connection so would fit all models that used the same bumper. As for whether 37 and 38 are the same I'm repeating what I&I had on their web site. I've not personally put on one a 37.

Thanks for the picture . . . . I had guessed that it was much wider going from the bumper to nearly touching the back of the car.

If you have A 1937 Master Deluxe the rear deflector omly fits 2 and 4 door models and a 3 passenger coupe.
1938 and 1939 are the same and wil not ft a 1937.

My 37 is a master sport sedan. I built a deflector shield myself but I drive a lot of gravel roads so I made mine wider than the original factory shield. The car is a driver not a show car.

Th 1937 Master is the lower piced model wit leaf front springs and a solid axle.
The Naster Deluxe is the "Deluxe" model with knee-action.

Yes the Master was the cheaper model in 1937. I prefer the Master over the Master Deluxe because the straight front axle is much simpler and more trouble free than the knee action and it has a more desirable rear differential ratio! They are both great cars, to each his own! ;-)

The Master had a different bumper so the deflector would fit MAster sedans and coupes.
