Hello!

Its been 3 years but finally got around to taking the beat up 230 out of my 1963 c10 and dropped in a 1968sh 250. It seems to run OK for my needs.

I took off the transmission, i beleive its a SM318 set up for tree/column shift.

The gears have some sides that are chewed up, but it does appear to function. Anyone have thoughts on how I can bench test the transmission to see if it will work? Or am I only going to know by hooking it up and give it a go?

I was thinking about just throwing it in and seeing (with driveshaft disconnected, if it will hit all the gears.

You would need to test it under load......like driving down the road.
