Well, the engine is done, the frame is done and it is time to get the body back on the frame. My question is whether it is better to prime the body and put it back on the frame for final paint; or, do the entire body, primer and final paint, off frame and then put it back on?

Jim, I would assume that the body is in epoxy prime and all the body work and filling is complete and covered up with another good coat of epoxy. If not I would definately do that first. I paint the underside of the body and firewall off the frame. Then the rest is up to you. You have alot less of a chance scratching it if is already on the frame when you paint. But either way is a personal choice. There is pros and cons either way. I paint the body on the frame as I assemble the fenders, doors, etc.etc when they are in prime for fitting. Then I disassemble and do my cut ins.It then depends on the paint i am using if I shoot the car as a whole or in pieces. Hope this helps you out. Cheers!!!

Hi Jim,

You don't say what body you have. If a closed car, I would paint on frame, if an open car, I would paint off frame, and then install.

Ray, Whoops! It's a Superior K coupe.

46aero, Thanks for your suggestion. I am still working on the body, etc. Probably won't be ready to prime for a month or two.
