Hey all like the title describes I'm having boiling issues mainly on hot days if I idle too long, my coolant pukes out from the rad cap. Levels are always maintained at the petcock level where instructed. I'm wondering of my rad cap seal is no longer hacking it , if so it this a pressure cap or non pressure? If it's pressure cap, how much pressure capabilities am I looking for? I found Oldsmobile caps that seem similar just not sure which one I need

You dont give any details of your Poncho. My Olds uses a 3 to 7 pound radiator cap. I have a new one so this pressure cap seems to be available.

The 1936 Pontiac had what Pontiac called sealed cooling. It had a pressure cap that fit 1935 and 1936 6 cylinder models only. The engine temperature is not affected by the pressure cap under normal conditions. The lack of a pressure cap will not cause overheating under normal conditions I believe that there is a water distribution tube in the lock....could be rusted away. Radiator is of the cross flow type, may be plugged up...

I should add that there is very liile about a 1938 Pontiac cooling system that compatres to any Chevrolet system and very little that compares to an Oldsmobile or any other GM car.
