It appears that in this age of plastic bumpers that nobody does bumper repair. Getting chrome plating done is fine but straightening them is another matter.
Looks like I will have to do my 38 bumpers myself. Any ideas on what to do? Do you merely hit them with a big hammer or use a press? Is it OK to heat them with an oxy?
I suppose that if I was in the USA I would buy new ones but we have a different bumper in Australia so I have to fix what I have.
Any thoughts appreciated.

Depending on how much your bumper requires to be shaped correctly will determine if it must be heated.

If the bend is large and concentrated in one place it MUST be heated.

If you try to straighten a spring steel bumper without heating, you can end up with many small bumpers irregularly shaped.

For a smaller bend I have used a 'come-a-long' with the bumper behind 2 somethings (so the bumper bend is in the middle) that don't move. I like a slow steady even pull so I have as much control as possible also pad the bumper at the hookup point.

You can drive your car on the bumper and pull up on the ends
