tHE GAS GAGE ON MY 1932 cHEVY SPECIAL SEDAN READS 1/4 WHEN THE TANK IS FULL. iS THE PROBLEM THE GAGE OR THE SENDING UNIT? iF IT IS THE SENDING UNIT HOW HARD IS THAT TO CHANGE? wHERE COULD i FIND ONE ?

have to test both and see, there are instructions on here somewhere or G&D article how to test both of them, i know the sending unit is typically read by a meter in ohms.

On a 31, it's not that hard to change. Drain the tank, put a jack under the tank and remove the fasteners. Disconnect the line and pull the tank out. The sending unit is held in place with a few screws. As long as nothing is rusted, I'd estimate 30 minutes. You may have to remove a tailpipe hangar as well. I didn't on mine since the PO put an aftermarket tank in that doesn't allow the hangar to be installed.

But before you go to all that trouble, try adding a ground wire from the tank to the chassis. That may be all that is needed.

OK I will try the ground wire first. I think my tank is an after market tank because when I bought the car the owner gave me an old rusty tank too Thanks, Ron
