A friend of mine has a four cylinder 1927 Chev that has no oil pressure. It runs smoothly and no knocks. Any suggestions on what might be wrong? Thanks Mike McDonald

I recently had a similar situation with the '28 engine in my truck Lurch.
The problem was that the distributor worked its way 'up' out of the hole in the block and therefore disengaged from the top of the oil pump.
I suspect that the last time I checked the timing of the distributor, I did not tighten down the clamp well enough to keep the distributor down in the hole in the block.
After seating the distributor so that it engaged the oil pump again, I the oil pressure came back.

BTW, without taking the distributor out (so the timing stays good), I used the following process to seat the distributor:
1. Loosen the distributor clamp, but do not lift the distributor 2. Very slowly, turn the engine a tiny bit with a hand crank 3. Check to see if the distributor will slide down and engage the oil pump. 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until the distributor slides down around 3/8 inch. 5. Tighten up the distributor clamp (and I mean tight!).
Hope this does it for him. Dean
