I purchased a delco remy contact set D-100H 1882965 from the Filling Station for my 36 Standard. My question is how do I install it so the stationary point on the spring steel connector does not slide up the shaft? The points I have installed in the past came with both parts attached and installed togeather. Top section fits loosly and as soon as I try to start the engine it rides up.

Make sure the screw that holds it is drawn down fully and tight. Is the spring twisted?

I thought I had it as tight as it should go. The spring is straight. I'll give it another try ThanksS

The notch in the spring needs to be fully down on the post coming into the distributor. Other than that I have no ideas. I've only seen the type of contact set you are describing for my car, a '36 Stadard
