I just recently dug my grandma and grandpa's old GMC truck out of the Implement shed. I found the title and one part says 1946 and another part says 1947? They were farmers and she always told me that they got to buy it during the World War II rationing because being deemed essential workers? But I would have thought that rationing was over by 1946? Anyway the plate on the passenger side reads: model E C 102 and the serial number is 490? I can't seem to find how to look this number up? If anyone could help me I would really appreciate it and we'll post pictures as soon as I figure out how to on this forum

EC102 is listed in my book as a 1947. Does it look like a 1941 or a 1948?
my llisting shows two different 1947 models, n EC and a FC.

How do you post a picture on here? I keep trying to upload one from my phone but somehow I can't seem to do it. The grill looks like a 41. Looks like it was painted black. Not Chrome

Hi Stinny

Someone else may know if GMC trucks were "model yeared" the same way Chevrolets were.
IF they were... your truck is a 1946 model.

If GMC production mirrored that of Chevrolet... your truck could have been built as late as early 1947 and still be a 1946 model.
Depending on the state you are in however... if a 1946 model was built in 1947, it may have been titled as a 1947.
Some states even titled 1946 trucks built in '46 but SOLD NEW in 1947 as 1947's.

Make sense?
Anyway, looks to me like your truck is a 1946 model.

PS
By the way
Welcome to the VCCA!

I can help you with posting pictures on a computer but I have no clue how using a phone. I'll move this thread to the General Discussion forum to get a wider audience.
