What is the STOCK battery group for my 1951 Styleline Deluxe ?

Is there anyone using an 8 volt battery ?
If so, what changes, if any, to the generator or voltage regulator ?

Id really like to go to a 12 volt system, and still use the 6 volt starter, but climbing under the dash to replace bulbs and add resistors won’t work for this very old body of mine.

An 8v battery is a fix in search of a problem. If you're staying with 6v make sure your connections are all clean and cables properly sized.

Scroll to page 60 for the battery specs: https://www.gm.com/content/dam/comp...mation-kits/chevrolet/1951-Chevrolet.pdf

You’ve made an assumption I have a start issue. I do not.

I use 2/0 cables and all connection points are very clean.

For my own inquisitive requested info, I asked questions about a STOCK 6 VOLT battery group number.

Out of curiosity, I also asked about anyone using 8 volt and what, if any changes needs updating.

Then I made a comment about a 12 volt system with a 6 volt starter.

The ‘51 I have owned for 23 years is fine.

2 years ago, I sold a pristine / restored ‘51. It was 12 volt.

I liked that 12 volt cranking the 6 volt starter ….. thus my series of questions today.

No problems to discuss, , just curious.

The stock battery is a 6 volt group one.
