Dean, so if I time it as you stated, when the truck is started and running and if the spark level is fully advanced I should see a 25 mark on the flywheel? (Of course when using a timing light)

I am using a 635 distributor

Hi Mike,

I've never checked to see if the 25 mark on the flywheel is showing in the peep hole when the spark lever is in the full advanced position. But my trucks start easily and run good!

Elsewhere in these forums people have said that trying to start a 4 banger with the spark advanced sometimes caused damage to the ring gear on the flywheel. Therefore, I've been more focused on having the startup spark at TDC to avoid damaging the ring gear.

And, I also have the 635B distributor in both trucks.

Cheers, Dean
