I'm relacing the 4 gaskets on the universal ball joint on a powerglide car and can not figure where the large 4" rubber "O" ring goes. The ring is to big to fit on the ball or ball flange that is secure by 6 bolts. Is this o ring used and then removed because when I removed universal joint and ball there was not an existing "O" ring.

Figure it out. did not realize there was in inner ring

That seal was a cork gasket originally and in u-joint seal kits.
