Hello, I plan on swapping the 6 cyl out of my 57 handyman wagon (man/shift) into my 51 woody wagon (w/auto trans). It's been a long time since I've worked on these cars and was wondering if this will be a direct fit or is there something else I will need to do because of the auto trans and torque tube drive train? The 51 is locked up and the 57's engine was rebuilt. Both 235s. (P.S. the 57 will get a 283 220 hp.)

What year is the 235 that is currently in the '51? There are difference between the early 50's 235's and those from the later 50's.
What transmission is in the '57?

Remember to remove the pilot bearing from the 236 with P>G. if a stick sift was involved.
othr than that the engine mounting departmnt will need some revisions.

The 51 has the original 235 that came with the original auto trans. The 57 also has the original 235 with the original three on the tree trans. The 57's engine had just been rebuilt when I purchased it but I never drove the car as it was an unfinished restoration. And still is.

That's right, I'd forgotten about that detail. The stick shift 235 will have the bushing. Is there anything else to consider?
