What are the proper colors to use for the hubcaps and the hood emblem for a 1950 styleline dlx? also what is a good paint to use and is reasonable in price?
"One Shot's" chevy blue from Chevs of the 40's is a bit pricey for the minimal amount needed to do this.
thanks in advance, Bill

You could also check with an art supply store for a better price on one shot. That is where I buy mine. They will also have good brushes for the job.

At times I have used hobby shop paint as Gene mentioned for the very small jobs.

See you down the back roads.

I used tester's model paint on my '40 --just make sure you get "gloss paint" not the "flat paint " thats used on model warplanes ,most hobby shops have a very good assortment of brushes also .

Thanks to all. I was getting a little confused when I looked at the hub caps on NCA's site. The 49's they offer have a red bowtie and I thought 49 & 50 were the same. Would the bow tie on the steering wheel be a good match for the blue. I can just pop that off and take it with me. chevy
thanks again, Bill
p.s. Chevgene the email would be fine. I'll get my address to you.

The 1949 emblems had a red back ground-the 1950 a metalic gold.--trunk, hood and hub caps. The horn cap would be a good sample but the blue is not metallic as the bow tie in the DeLuxe horn cap is.

When we painted the trim spears and hood ornament on our 59 Apache I really wanted to have a vintage look but the original colors sort of looked TOO new, even though the body paint was new. So we, found colors for the trim that appeared to have been on the truck and had some "patina" without looking worn out.

The results were actually exactly what I had wanted.... after only one repaint.
