Im curious as to why my thread got removed. I was very straight forward, not rude, non political and polite. What gives?

Are you referring to the thread looking for parts? If so it's in the Parts Wanted forum.

This is 1 reason why I have previously commented about leaving a comment at the moved post so the original poster can find their post and follow up on it.

I leave pointers for five days. I don't remember if I moved it or not. I can leave pointers longer if necessary.

I have not seen any indication at the original location as to where the post has been moved to (just a note "This topic has been moved") but if I find the new location it has a pointer.

The message "This Topic Has Been Moved" is the pointer. Click on it and it takes you to the thread.

I see it now looking at "Parts wanted". I didn't get any notifications or anything indicating the post was moved, but no harm, no foul. Thanks for the help fellas.

I appreciate the oversight of the Chat moderators. The decision to move a thread is one that is not as simple as it seems. The key question is whether moving it will give more visibility and opportunity for responses compared to leaving it in the original location.

My observations are that in almost every case the quantity and quality of responses are improved as a result of moving the thread.

As Tiny noted, the core question is the length of time the "This thread has been moved." link is left.

I am suggesting that when a post is moved the indicator at the original post should read "this post has been moved to _______" so that especially new members have a chance of following up on their posts.

Tony, all they have to do is click on that notice and it takes them directly to their thread in the new location.

Tiny,
Can you add "Click on this notice to go to the new location" to the message?

I haven't tried to edit the notice. I'll see if I can do that on the next one.

Edit: I created a new thread titled "Test" then moved it to a different forum. I was wrong in what is displayed in the initial location. Instead of "This Thread Has Been Moved" it remains the original thread title but with an arrow added. When one clicks on the initial thread they are taken to a new window and shown the "moved" message which will take them to the new location. I wasn't able to find a way to edit either the title with the arrow or the "moved" message. I'll leave the test thread up for a few days so all concerned can see it and how it works.
