Is there a Gasket around crankshaft pulley and timing cover?
On a 1928 4 cylinder

No seal on the timing gear cover. Only a small amount of oil drains into that area so leaks are not large.

You are missing the oil slinger that goes on the crankshaft and there is a gasket on the timing cover.

I have the timing cover gasket. Isn’t the oil slinger that backwards ‘J’ shaped piece of metal that is pictured to the right of the gears where they intersect?

Sorry for the late reply have been away.
The oil slinger is like a big flat washer that goes on the crankshaft before the cover. As its name suggests it slings oil off before it goes through the crank hole in the timing cover.

Ok, mine had no oil slinger washer between the cover and the gear. I can’t seem to find any for sale online. Any suggestions?

I spoke with Gary Wallace and he has no oil slingers for sale and has taken apart many Chevrolet 4 cylinders and has never seen an oil slinger on a Chevy 4 cylinder
