I use Champion W89D plugs (which have long reach electrodes) and they seem to work fine on both of my trucks.
I set the point gap at .018" and the plug gap at .035".
Make sure to use solid (or stranded) plug wires, not the carbon-based ones.

What should I expect to pay. Prices seem to be all over place. Also most say for hit & miss engines ?

Yes, prices are all over the place. And yes, these plugs fit some of the old hit and miss engines. Don't be fooled by the ads that say the W89D is the same as the industrial 589. It is not. The 589 has much longer electrodes. A quick search of the internet brought me to a small engine repair place that sells the W89D plugs for $14.77 each. Here's a link to their ad: Jacks Small Engines - Champion W89D spark plugs. This seems like a good price to me, but I've never dealt with this company. Cheers, Dean
