Hello,

I need some help with the route the vacuum line for the Wiper motor takes on my 1940 Chevy PU. I believe it uses rubber tubing until it reaches the drivers side post. Does it use a piece of steel tubing up the post then continue with rubber?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike

That is the way it was in my '46.
I had a leak somewhere in the steel section.
Because the steel section isn't actually visible, I wasn't overly concerned with complete originality.
So... rather than tear all of the trim pieces out with the attendant clutch head screws, I was able to feed a new rubber vacuum hose through the A pillar from the top down and through the firewall to the manifold fitting.
All one piece.
Fewer places to leak.
