There should be 4 Phillips head screws that hold the box to the flanges that are stamped as part of the dash. The box slides towards the front of the car to be removed.
Check your shop manual for confirmation. I am just going on memory for how Chevy did gloveboxes in the mid-60's.

I don't know specifically about the '65 but my 38, 62 and 53 are all similar and are as Rusty advises. The screws are accessed from inside the glove box around the periphery. Remove those screws then push the box liner forward toward the front of the car until it clears the tabs that the screws fastened to. Installation is the reverse.

Thanks but doesn’t seem to come out the front without wading it up some.

You might have to pull or loosen & move something to make it clear. Rarely does the factory install sequence coordinate with what we need to remove. It was probably installed before all of the stuff that's now in your way. Welcome to the world of working on old cars.

Just to make sure we are saying that the glovebox needs to move toward the firewall to remove it. It will not come out through the opening in the dash panel - unless you wad it up!
Yes, there are probably some other things in the way. Take lots of pictures before you disconnect and remove those items.
