Looking to determine the correct size for the door hinge pins. I ordered new ones and they are only 2-9/16" long while the ones I removed are 3". In addition catalog size is listed as 11/32" which is .344 however the catalog list them as .340. I have both sizes and the 11/32(.344) is snug while the .340 is loose. The 2-9/16" is shy of protruding from the hinge by about 1/8". I could not find pins listed for the Belair in my catalog in my parts catalog . I may just use he shorter pins but would like to know what is correct

The 1959 parts book lists a "fits all" pin and it is 11/32" by 3 9/32",....IT fits a variety OF MODELS INCLUDING 1942-1948 AND SOME LATER MODELSas well as 1949-1952.

Gene that is the size I removed. Now waiting for the FS to verify the diameter of the longer ones they have in stock. Also learned that some pins have a crowned head but the ones I removed are flat head similar to a clevis pin.

I got a pin kit from The FS and while the pins are longer they are loose even with the new bushing. I was hoping that the bushings would shrink when pressing in but no luck. There is at least 5-6 thousandth's clearance . An Email has been sent to Dave Sylvain as I am in need of professional help.

Got a reply from Dave within a few minutes and got some leads on other suppliers. Also got a PM from a VCCA member so that is encouraging. I am not sure why it should be so difficult but am guessing overseas suppliers are using a metric measurement that is close . Most list the pin size as 11/32 when in reality they are sending pins that are .005 smaller. Strangely on Ebay the bushings are also being listed for sale with an inner diameter of 11/32.

Using parts from various sources I was able to re-bush my hinges though not as easily or satisfactory as desired . Currently working with a supplier who agrees that the tolerances are not correct on the parts currently being sold.

Unfortunately that's the state of many repop parts these days.
