Has anyone used or know of a rock guard type paint or material that would work under the fenders. I would like something that would protect the fenders from the bottom side without being to textured. The bed liner type material(rhino liners) is to heavy and textured(hard to get clean),I believe Sem-Chip Guard#39793 or Shots by 3M is to thin and wouldn't give enough protection. I would like somthing I can paint body color and would cover small imperfections and have somewhat of a plastic or rubber type base, rather smooth. I don't think the tape or sheet type material would adhere or hold up. Has anyone used a product that works well in this application? Any and all suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ron

I would suggest top quality polyurethane. It is the toughest automotive coating with a smooth surface. Adding a flex agent can make it more flexible. The key is not just the top coat. What's under it is at least as critical to damage resistance. Any easily sanded primer will increase the potential for chip damage. Epoxy and polyurethane primers are the toughest. The thinner the primer thickness the better. I also believe that an etching primer base is critical toward maximizing adhesion. It is also best to stay with a single manufacturer and paint system. I don't believe that powder coating is more chip resistant than polyurethane based on my experience.
