The manifold heat riser is stuck, in mid position fortunatly. No manner of oil including Blast Off will free it. Anybody got a suggestion ?

Try tapping end to end.Use a brass hammer if you have one.Do not try to turn untill its free.A little heat may be necessary.

Just be careful after soaking in PB Blaster for a few hours to tap, tap, tap, tap and gently try to turn . I may be Wacky..but if heat would help why not just drive it down the road for 30 miniutes with the spark retarded, that should produce enough heat to melt babbit!... When you use plenty of PB Blaster and go in the house (if you are married) you may hear, "What is that awful smell? I think it is going to make me sick!" at least that is what I hear about once a week.

I used a combination of things to free the one on the 52, first was to drop the exhaust pipe and spray Liquid wrench up inside the manifold, then periodically over 2/3 days sprayed from the outside. Finally made something similar to a belt wrench, slid this over the large end, and while applying very little leverage tapped the other end with a rubber hammer, kept this up for about 15 minutes and got the thing free. The secret is use very little leverage on the wrench, and very light taps on the other end.

Glyn, I have to agree with your method, especially since it worked and didn't cause any damage to any vital parts, either the heat rizer or yourself!
