Recently got my newly acquired 1927 Chey running for the first time since 1991, yay! I do not currently have the radiator hooked up, rebuilding the water pump. I have been told that you cannot use modern antifreeze in this system, but have been unable to verify that. Any guidance? This is my first project so it's all new to me!

I use the plain old green antifreeze with a 50/50 mix.

Welcome to the VCCA Chat Site. Always nice to see another Northern New Englander join in. Yes the standard old green antifreeze in a 50/50 mix will give you the best protection but I doubt you will be out in any below zero weather so I agree with Bears Fan 315 maybe a little more water.

I agree that unless the vehicle is going to experience below 0 F temperatures a 35% antifreeze concentration will work well. The lower antifreeze concentration transfers more heat and still provides more that adequate rust protection and water pump lubrication.
