Hello,

Can anybody tell me what the interior of a glove box on a 1940 Chevy PU truck looks like?
I assume it’s cardboard but was it painted or was it covered with felt. In either case, what color would it be?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike

The same glove box was used from 1940 to 1946.
Part number 3654001, group 16.100.

I think my '46 has the original in it.
If I remember right, it's a very stiff cardboard with a bit of a felt like texture to it.
The finish MAY be due to abrasion over the years, but if so the upper side would still be smooth.
If you would like, I could brush some snow off the truck, empty the stuff out of the box, and try to get a few pictures.
I could have a look at the finish or texture at the same time.
Let me know. :-)

Hi again Mike

The Filling Station sells a replacement glove box here:
https://store.fillingstation.com/detail/GB-T4046/Chevrolet_194046_TRUCK_GLOVE_BOX_INSERT.html

It doesn't say what it's made of, but if you want to know what mine looks like, let me know.
