1. RE: 37 CHEVY PICKUP DOOR HINGES??? Can anyone shed some light on this? Are the door hinges D.S. and P.S. TOP and BOTTOM the same? And can be used on either D.S. or P.S.? 2. And is the TOP and BOTTOM "Door hinge only" "not cab part of hinge" dedicated for THE TOP ONLY and BOTTOM ONLY? 3. Or are they paired as a matched set. 4. Or can you mix any TOP with any BOTTOM? I hope this isn't to confusing. They appear to be the same. And don't look like there is any special angles etc. Thanks Sam

There might be some clues in the Master Parts list. If the part numbers are not the same then I expect there are differences.
My limited experience with door hinges is that the top/ bottom right/left differences are often very subtle. You don’t really notice them until you try to install them in the wrong location.

The 1937 truck door hinges fit A 1937 ONLY. There is a top (both halves) and right and lett are the same. Same for the bottom, right and left the same - both pieces come together. 600781 top and 601429 for lower.

Thankyou for the reply. At least I have a direction now. And like you mentioned the differance has to be very minimal to the eye.

I looked at 1936 truck hinges compared to the 1937. And literally stared at them and they look identical. Bends, tweaks, etc. Can't see any difference. Is there a chance they are the same and just wasn't stated in the parts book? Have you ever run into that possibility?

Just a thought since I've not had an issue with hinges in the past so can't speak from personal experience, I believe there are hinge rebuild kits available if your existing hinges are worn out. If the kits are no longer being made or aren't for your vehicle a good machinist could probably sleeve and re-pin them for you.

Thanks for the reply. As the type of hinges these are not to much to rebuild. More so to replace. I think?

If you are asking if anyone has seen "mistakes" in the parts books, the answer is YES.
The example I ran into was with rear engine mounts on 1946 3/4 ton utility trucks. Master parts books from SEVERAL years were just plain WRONG.
Not saying they are wrong in your case... but they sure were in mine!
