All of a sudden I am getting emails showing the recent postings on a forum that I had opened earlier. How do I turn that off ??

Just like all the "expert" users tell me "It is just a setting!"

It sounds like somehow your Preferences got changed. Click on the down arrow next to your user name in the upper right corner. Then select "Preferences". In the lower portion of that screen look at your "Email and Private Messages Preference".

Make sure the third one down is set to "No".

It is just a setting. If you start a thread or click Use Full Editor the default setting is to put that thread on your followed thread list. Every time a post is made in that thread you'll receive an email IF you have your preferences set to "Send me an email when a new post to a forum, thread, or by a user within my Follow Lists is created". If you don't want to receive those emails you can either uncheck the "Add this thread to my Followed Threads" box and/or edit your preferences and uncheck the box next to the setting I mentioned above.

That was the problem although I don't know how it got marked for sending email notification. This problem just started !!! Another one of computer's mysteries.
