I have seen these brackets bolted onto the intake manifold of various Chevy engines over the years. Were these brackets installed by the factory? Was the purpose to assist in replacing motor mounts, lifting the engine so the oil pan could be removed, etc.?

Not a 100 percent sure but since all the V8’s had them I would say the factory used them otherwise they would not be there. The 6 cylinders also had something similar.

Any idea what year Chevrolet began putting them on the engines? I am currently assisting on a 1967 Camaro 327 engine right now. Should it have these lift brackets installed to be 100% correct?

Ford V8 here in Aus had very similar brackets and the blue paint remaining on those suggest they maybe Ford brackets. The only engine lifting brackets I have seen for Chev V8 is a universal type that bolts on in place of the carb. Tony
The blue paint would indicate late 70’s when the went to the corporate blue, the older V8’s used the same brackets. From my days in Chevy dealership I would say they should be on there. Somebody might have a better memory on the year they started using them.
