Hi guys, I have a 1937 sedan and the temp sending unit line was broken when I got the car. It has a 1955 235 engine it it now, and Im wondering if the 55 complete gauge will fit in the cluster slot the same as the 37, or if I should find a complete 1937 unit and install it into the 55 engine?
Thank you, Richard

I doubt the 55 guage would fit the 37 cluster but if you had both ends of the copper tube the guage you have can be repaired, somewhere on this forum is instructions on how to do it yourself but there probably instrument repairers in the US like here in Aus. Tony

The great thing about a mechanical temperature gauge is that temperature is temperature. If the fittings for a ‘37 sending unit will screw into the 235 head, you are good to go.
I suggest that a ‘55 assembly will not be a good choice. Fitting the gauge into the ‘37 instrument panel will be quite a challenge.

I found a working sending unit and gauge for a 38. Fit in my instrument panel and screws into the 55 head. Works great.
