It holds the staqmped steelring with 4 studs in place while installing U joint on 1939 and prior models.

yeah, few picts of one Ted made that he let me borrow when rebuilding my 1929 Transmission

i since have bought me one just to have made by Snap-On and looks like the one you have there wink

Much thanks. A picture or pictures are worth a thousand words. With more info it looks
like mine is a Snap-on S9580 Universal Joint Assembly Tool also.
