does anyone have any facts on the detail of the front and rear bumpers for a 1928 coach? My bumpers are in excellent chrome condition, but i have seen a pic and read that the inset of the bumpers were painted black.Only the ribs were chrome. Can anyone help on clarification?

I wouldn't be much help, my 28 has black painted tubular bumpers (some say they are Export models), I don't know but they are just right to wrap a Nylon tie down around. I think that since bumpers were a dealer installed extra, there could be more than one correct bumper, I got a 1928 front bumper in a trade that is complete except for the center medallion. (it is currently in early surface rust.)

If you look at the January 1928 Service news page 11, yes the inserts are painted black .I bought a set recently that are the same style but have not been painted ,same as yours all chrome I guess that they never got around to it or just could not stand to paint them after the cost of re plating .
