Can't seem to see the difference between the two models for sale. I own a 37 master deluxe coupe and know the diffs on these but am confused on the post war models.
Looking at a 48 coupe semi-hotrod that has a Stainless mldg that goes around the upper body and the trunk and a 46 coupe that seems not to have this SS mldg (which I like).
I was kind of looking at the post war years, I assume there wouldn't be much difference on the road versus my 37? Was looking for something faster on the hwy. Would I have to step up to a 55 or? Thanks you

The lower priced Stylemaster has no chrome around the windshield and side windows. In 1946 all models had a long chrome side moulding and this was eleminated on all 1947 models. The Fleetmaster has a belt crease moulding running around the body.

The stylemaster had no arm rests, one sunvisor, no horn ring or clock or lighter and a lower line interior. The fore mentiomed items could be installed as accessories,

The 1947 would be a more comfortable highway car but in standard form still a 55 to 60 MPH highway car - unless the rear axle ratio was upped from the 4,11 to a 3.70 or 3.54 ratio,

Here is my 48 Fleetmaster. It shows the chrome on the exterior.

Also, the 1942 model lines were originally the Special Deluxe and Master Deluxe but due to the restrictions on superlative names, changed to the Fleetmaster and Stylemaster models. They were already in production after the change so the cars retained the original badging(for Special Deluxe models)
