I have printed out a lot of pages of information passed on by experienced people. How about we all contribute to a store of experience from the old guys who remember shortcuts, bad ideas, good techniques, alternate methods, etc. Sort of a cookbook of everyone's knowledge to pass on in condensed form. This thought came when I said to a novice "gaskets are not a big problem, you can always hammer one or lipstick mark one" and was met with a blank stare and "huh?" We could call it something like "Nips From the Junkyard Dog and His Pups.

I agree with that idea but it is a possible group heading covering all models and types. While I am not trying to tell you how to run this forum I have gained a lot of useful info, supplied a bit and had a lot of laughs over some of the friendly stirring that goes on.

I just ran into another situation that made me wish I had a booklet(?). I was hunting for my printed pages about transmission lube, and cursed my filing system. I had 4 or 5 pages to hunt through, and though I do enjoy reading the banter, sometimes I just want a short answer. A lot of ideas and information are general, any specific ones could be marked as to their applications. I have no Idea what organization system would work. Maybe just someone suggest a topic and everyone who knows about that send in their techniques, methods, results of research, or whatever. In condensed form though.

I like the idea! I think a "Hints & Tips" category would be best since not everyone reads all the categories. I, too, have been met with blank stares regarding "hammering" a gasket. My first restoration required new rear-end gaskets. A cereal box and a ballpeen hammer later, I had a workable pair that are still probably on that car (which I no longer own :( )twenty years later. I've since switched to gasket paper.
