I have about six drum style headlights (1924 - 1926) that I would like to get two good ones out of the lot. Is there anyone who does restorations on them. None of them are fully complete. I've seen on this site many years ago about someone in Oregon that restores the reflectors to a mirror finish but I need more than that. Any help or leads would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

I had several reflectors nickle plated and then sent them to Uvira a couple of months ago. They did a fantastic job. Had them back about 2 weeks after I sent them from Texas to Oregon.

A couple of months ago? I am going to be all over this if Uvira are still doing reflectors. I heard they weren't, and about a year ago.

Do you have a favorite shop for the nickel plating?

The owner had a stroke a while back. He is not 100% but told me good enough to keep redoing reflectors.

Thanks. Were you able to get the nickel done quickly or was that like getting in line for chrome?

Thanks to everyone for their input but I am still where I started. I guess no one rebuilds these old lights. I was aware of Uvira for the reflector work but I have missing parts that I need to fix the ones I have.

I don't know of an headlight restoration specialist. Many of us do our own restoration which involves taking the light apart, recording the process particularly the first time, sending off the rim and reflector to be resurfaced, ordering any needed parts, painting the parts that are not plated and then reassembling.

I suspect that a local body shop might agree to do the job or at least the painting part of it.

Thanks Chipper. I can paint them and get the reflector and trim rings done. It's the missing clips and sealing gaskets that are the problem. I have no idea as to who can supply those parts.

Check with The Filling Station on needed parts. They may have them or know where to look.
