I understand my car would not qualify for real car show competition. Just looking for a high level understanding of how this works. I thought it was start with X points and subtract for each flaw but not sure.

It starts with 1,000 points and deducted from there.

One thing that helped me when I was trying to understanding the process was the judging manual. I also volunteered to be a judge at our local vcca show and went to the judging school. The judging was fun but the manual will probably answer your questions.

I am not sure how you get a manual these days maybe someone will let us know. If not I have an old one I can send you.

The most recent judging information is online as PDF files in the Members Only - Resources area off the main VCCA web page at vcca.org.

The vehicle is judged as delivered when new condition. Every component on the vehicle has a point value, and deductions can only be made for Workmanship, Authenticity, Cleanliness and Condition. The car has to be over 900 for a first Junior and over 950 for a First Senior.. There are more classes then cars so most times so there rarely is any head to head competition. There are mandatory deductions, which can automatically disqualify a vehicle, or put it a disadvantage.
