I'd like to replace the badly worn steering wheel on my 39 Master with an aftermarket item, can anyone provide details of where I might be able to get an adapter to let me do this?

Short of replacing the whole steering assembly I don't know if such thing is available. It would probably be much less expensive to buy another steering wheel or restore the one you have. If you're dead set on putting a modern wheel on the car you'll probably have to get inventive and engineer/fabricate one yourself. If there's an adapter available someone will let us know.
