I'm in the process of bolting down the body to the frame ( I have splash and rocker panels installed). Body seems to sit too high (I can see a gap of about 1/4 to 3/8" at the rear between the rear fuel tank apron and the body). I think I ask this before but want to confirm. Should there be a wooden block (about 3/16" thick X 4" long and from inside edge to outside edge) under 2 of the bolt holes? ( see attached photos). Wooden block is at #1 and rubber body pad is # 2.

Neil I think in another thread I replied regarding a wooden block . Don't know if this is the same area or not however in a perfect world the body would fit at all mounting locations with one rubber pad. If that is not the case then each mount must be individually inspected and adjusted so that the bolting pressure is equal at all points . I have not checked the Fisher Body Manual but would guess the next step would be to adjust for door closing alignment. Also having the frame level on a level floor is important.

Of all the chevys I’ve done I haven’t done a 32 so I can’t confirm. I can tell you on my 32 olds, which has 5 mounting bolts on each sill, has those same 3/16 ash pads on all but position 5. The rubber mounts sold these days seem to be too soft and most aren’t fabric reinforced. I would use a piece of thick conveyor belting before I’d use what shops are selling these days but that’s my own opinion.
