Hi. I have seen several “1936 standard ball housing support” advertised on the internet. Were these standard items, placed in the factory, or aftermarket? Do they just clamp over the ball housing where it connects to the drive shaft tube?
VCCA members have access to a list of over 50 Technical Advisors who can help you with your car. It's worth the price of membership! While you can get a lot of information for free in this forum, sometimes the info that you REALLY need is only available from the right person. This is what "The World's Best Chevrolet Club" is all about!
They are aftermarket and various sizes were available for all models. The were used to reduce/eleminate drive line vibration at higher speeds caused by the drive shaft bushings being worn out.
I dug my box of these out and surprise there is conflicting info on the boxes. Some say 26-37 and some Pontiac while others say 25-33. The labels do refer to a factory number, 353897. I could not find it in my Chevrolet information but it may be Pontiac.
