I recently bought a ´37 coupe that has a trunk lid that seem to be to big. It fits fine in upper end and both sides but when it comes to bottom it overlaps the tailpan 1/2 an inch. The handle is a T-thing and looks like ´35-36 handles. Does anyone know if earlier trunklids are that close to fit a later car. Or how can I see what year trunklid I´ve got?

US built 1937 and 1938 coupes used the same lids.I can't think of another lid that would even come close to fitting. The '39 would be shorter and had different contours. Also as you know these years had a verticle handle but a T handle could have been fitted thru the years. Is the tail pan pushed in-or up due to a collision? !1936s used a very short lid.

Has the tail pan been repaired and perhaps improperly fitted with a replacement tail pan? Your deck lid, if correct, would only fit a '37 and '38 business coupe.

:) Thanks, Chevgene and "videoranger" The rear lower body and tailpan seems to be in original undamaged shape, but the lid might have been "flattened out". When I look closely it sits a little low on both sides (in middle of curve). I´ll go ahead and try to make it fit! Thanks again /Bengt

Are you fitting it up without the weather stripping in place? The weather stripping will cause the lid to lift up about 1/2".
