Difficulty sourcing a replacement headlight switch. The notch the control shaft slips into has hollowed out. Any attempt in engage results in the shaft slipping out. Tried lubing the switch travel to loosen the resistance to no avail. Seeking an alternative repair or replacement. Thanks!

The 1931 headlight switch has the knob on a shaft with wire on the end held in place by a swivel with set screw. The newer switch has a shaft with 90 deg. bend that fits into a slot in the switch body. Do you have a photo of the switch you are referring to?

It's the second switch you just referenced. The shaft slips out of the slot.

Wear in the switch shaft or bezel can result in enough "slop" to allow it to slip out of the slot. Reforming the end of the shaft to penetrate a little deeper into the slot might help. Occasionally NOS switches appear on Ebay and other internet sales sites.
