Hello experts
I am getting ready to set the cab back on my '37 1/2 ton PU. My question is about the wood blocks that go between the cab and frame. The cab was sitting loose when I got it. It came with aa bag of blocks but I don't know what size goes where. I know that 2 wood blocks go behind and 2 in front of the seat. From what I can see in pix's, It looks like the front spacers are just pads, not wood. I know that I can buy a entire kit, but I already have the blocks. I just need to get the correct block in the correct location. I guess what I am asking is anyone can tell me the thickness of the blocks and pads.

Sorry but I an not familiar wot the older Chevy pickups. I do know that with the Advanced Design trucks the wooden blocks were used only for mounting the bed. There were rubber spacers between the cab and the frame.

You can buy a kit for the cab mount for $125, which includes wood blocks and pads. I have several blocks and pads, but I don't know what size goes where. I was wondering if anyone knew how thick the blocks should be. I think it might effect door alignment.

Thanks for the clarification. I was not aware that the cab used wooden blocks as mounts on these older trucks.

Have you contacted someone who sells the kits? Maybe they have instructions that would help you.

The larger wood block, appears to be about the size of a 2x4 goes up front. The smaller wood block with the tapered cut goes at the back and nests in front of the gas tank/floor recess.

can use the ones I have. Are the 2 wood blocks the same thickness?

Can’t say for certain, they weren’t measured, but they appear to be the same thickness of about 1.5”.

As far as I know, the cab mount kits that are sold for the trucks before 1939 do not include the wooden block spacers. I think 37Blue is correct as to the location of the blocks.
The rear of the cab rests on a rubber cushion that is inside a metal retainer. A heavy spring is above the floor behind the seat. The bolt in front of the seat passes through the aforementioned block and has a small spring at the bottom (inside the frame).
I make the '31/'36(high cab) kits and the '36(low cab)/38 kits that are available from Jim Carter, The Filling Station, and Classy Chev USA. I do not include the blocks in them and I don't think they add blocks to them.

Jim Carter sells wood blocks that mount at the rear of the cab for '36- '46 (CB247) in the book that I was looking in. Thanks for your help. I will just play with the blocks that I have and make them work.

Those blocks (CB247) shown in the Carter catalog are the ones mentioned above as nesting in front of gas tank/floor recess.

OK. Thanks. I thought those were the ones at the rear of the seat. Case closed.
