Today I changed the torque tube in my 47 sedan delivery from the original 4.11 gears to a 53 Chevy Power glide torque tube with 3.55 gears. I'm hoping it allows me to travel on the Hiway to shows further away from home without the engine screaming. Took about 5 hours, changed axle seals in the process.

It will make a big difference.
Remember your speedometer will be 15% slow so 60 on the speedo. will actualy be 69 MPH. and 30 will be 35 MPH. and 100 will be 115 MPH pigs

What a nice vehicle. I have never seen one at a show. So was it just a swap with the same front spline?

Firecar, one thing , besides the speed capabilities of your sedan delivery, you will notice is when you go to pull away from a dead stop, like at a traffic light. And if you are on a slight upgrade you'll really notice this. I'm not going to spoil your surprise - just say that I found out when I made the same alteration to my '50 convertible and '51 sedan. Please let us know how you like your change-up when you get it out on the road.

At lower engine speeds it wil feel like your are pulling a 1000 pound trailer unless you have a 235 engine,

I've only driven it for 2 days now, I have noticed a slight difference in starting up a grade, but nothing that I wasn't expecting or the engine can't handle (yet).

It was an easy swap out, I had the new torque tube cleaned and ready to go in. with gaskets and seals in hand I'm thinking a 5 hour job.
